Project Story
Willmott Dixon Interiors have delivered two refurbishments of Mental Health Facilities in Radlett, both procured through the Procurement Hub Framework.
Forest House is an adolescent in-patient unit. The scope involved adding a ground and first floor extension to provide extra staff accommodation, refurbishing non-secure accommodation areas, and fitting a new High Dependency Unit. This included enlarging two en-suite bedrooms, adding lounge spaces, de-escalation areas, and observation areas. The project aimed to improve the facility’s overall space and functionality.
Albany lodge is a Mental Health facility. We modernised 24 bedrooms with new electrical work, furniture, and fire stopping. The communal bathroom and en-suite were fully refurbished with anti-ligature sanitary ware and vinyl. Five corridors and the courtyard were decorated, and 11 windows were replaced. The updated facility offers modern areas for patients.
Anti-ligature design was heavily implemented throughout the entirety of both projects, with careful consideration to meet high standards of care. Working with specialist Supply Chain Partners, anti-ligature products were fitted throughout the bedrooms. Considerations included implementing anti-barricade door hinges, modified radiator covers and sloping wardrobe roofs, etc.
Throughout our time on site at Forest House and Albany Lodge, we were considerate of the nature of the mental health units and stopped works when there were interruptions, to avoid disruption to the residents.
Both projects have improved the functionality of the space and updated the offering to be modern.
