We are proud to offer unique work experience placements that give you the chance to work alongside highly qualified and experienced professionals. Gaining an in-depth understanding of both the technical elements and business skills that are required to succeed within construction and showing you a variety of teams that come together to complete a project.
You can have the opportunity to learn from our highly skilled people’s experience and knowledge to gain a valuable placement in the industry. This worthwhile experience is available to you, whether that’s site or office-based, to deeper your understanding of the function and industry.
Not sure what role you would like to know more about? We can offer you a work experience placement that covers a variety of functions around our business. Read below for the different types of placements we offer.
Interior Fit out:
This experience is suitable for anyone wanting a better understanding of the industry as a whole, whilst exploring different departments. You will rotate between office departments on a one week placement. This will provide you with an insight into what the roles consist of and you will be allocated tasks of your own.
Site:
If you are interested in being a Site Manager or Quantity Surveyor, then this placement will be the one for you. You will get to explore the day to day role and experience the work environment. Shadow management of all levels within your desired role and complete tasks associated with the job.
Trades:
If you think you would suit a more ‘hands on role’, then one of the trade jobs may be a good option. Spend the week rotating between the current supply chain partners on site, or gain an in depth understanding of a specific trade if you already know what you would prefer.
Department specific:
As a main contractor, we have a variety of different management teams based in the office. If you have an interest in Sales & Marketing, Social Value, Sustainability, Design, Finance, Planning or Preconstruction, then you can complete a weeks’ worth placement gaining a better understanding of the role.

If you are talented and want to succeed, our Management Trainee programme will give you the opportunity to realise your potential. Our established, successful Management Trainee programme is one of the best in the industry. We have been nurturing, developing and fulfilling future Managers’ potential for over 35 years. Indeed, some of our most talented Management Trainees now sit on the main board and many are in Senior Managerial roles.There are lots of routes into a Management Trainee Programme at Willmott Dixon Interiors:
School/College leavers – Are you studying for A Levels and don’t want to go to university full time? Then a 4 year Management Trainee Programme is for you!
Graduates – Are you a graduate with a degree in a construction related subject? We can offer you a 2 year Management Trainee Programme. However if you have a non construction related degree we still want you to apply and we can offer you a 3 year Management Trainee Programme.
Skilled Tradespeople – You will get a structured programme that will expose you to all areas of our business to develop your understanding of the interiors business as a whole and not just your chosen discipline. The length of your programme will depend on your entry route, generally between 2 and 4 years.
Year out Industry Placements – We offer industry placements for those of you who are looking to gain an immersive experience in the industry of your choice.
We offer entry level positions for those who are looking to take their first steps into construction. With this paid apprenticeship you will earn while you learn and obtain a Level 3 RICS accredited diploma in Surveying.
We are able to offer unlimited opportunities to those with the ambition to take their career to the next level and work in a stimulating environment. By offering 4 levels of management development programmes we are able to provide the skills you need to help reach your potential.
We believe that our teams should continue to have ongoing development both in and out of construction and are committed to assisting them in becoming qualified within a professional qualification of their choice.
We believe continued learning and development is crucial to our teams everyday needs and we are increasingly proud of our internal L&D department who deliver over 100 courses internally.
We commit everyday to promoting a healthy work/life balance that matches a competitive holiday allowance, which starts at 25 days a year plus public holidays. The more you stay the more you get. After five years, your allowance jumps up to 27 days and after ten years it jumps up to 30 days.
If the holidays allowance isn’t enough, you can take advantage of buying extra holiday entitlement each year.
