Project Story
Project Brief
We delivered a bold new vision for Brent Civic Centre, transforming 22,600 sq ft of space at the award-winning building in Wembley Park. Commissioned by Brent Council, the project aimed to address evolving community needs identified through resident consultation, staff engagement, and user surveys.
With accessibility, confidentiality, and functionality at the heart of the brief, the refurbishment focused on improving the visitor experience and reconfiguring public areas to support a broader range of services and events.
The project was delivered via the Procurement Hub MPF2 framework.
Project Solution
Key features of the transformation include the enhancement of Wembley Library with the addition of a larger, purpose-built children’s library, new study areas, quiet zones, and an expanded book collection.
A newly created resident hub on the ground floor features a customer service area, digital access zone, private consultation rooms, and a dedicated, high-quality space for weddings and events.
Accessibility was a major focus of the project, with a new main entrance installed on Exhibition Way, and internal layouts redesigned to support wheelchair users, pushchairs, and people with complex needs.
Extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades were also delivered, including new plumbing, heating, lighting, acoustics, and enhanced temperature control systems.
The project was marked by its strong sustainability credentials: 100% of waste (32+ tonnes) was diverted from landfill, 90% of materials were recycled, and original lighting and carpet tiles were reused wherever possible.
In parallel with construction, we worked in partnership with West London Careers Hub to deliver over £1.5 million in social return on investment. This included career support for local schools and colleges through events and work experience placements.
