Willmott Dixon Interiors welcomed more than 100 senior figures from construction and business to the Kia Oval in London for the first Southern edition of its Developing Leaders Conference, a CPD Certified day of learning, inspiration and networking.
Designed to feel very different from a typical industry event, the conference brought together customers, consultants, supply chain partners and colleagues to explore what effective leadership looks like in today’s fast changing world.
Hosted by BBC presenter Rachel Burden, the programme featured perspectives from outside the construction sector, including behavioural economics, military aviation, national security, AI strategy and broadcast media, to challenge thinking and spark fresh ideas.
Speakers included:
- Mandy Hickson, former RAF fast-jet pilot, on leading under pressure and building trust.
- Keith Dear, former government adviser and founder of AI strategy firm Cassi, on the future of leadership in an AI-driven world.
- Caspar Berry, former professional poker player, on risk, decision-making and confident leadership without certainty.
- Cally Beaton, media entrepreneur, writer and performer, on authentic leadership and making space for others to thrive.
Adam Worrall, deputy managing director at Willmott Dixon Interiors, said: “This conference is part of a wider commitment from our business to invest in the people who are shaping the future of our sector, not just through what they deliver, but through how they lead.
“With a panel of original thinkers and business leaders from outside construction, the day was designed to spark ideas, challenge thinking and help foster a culture of high performance.”
The Developing Leaders Conference was established by Willmott Dixon’s Northern business seven years ago and has become a sought-after date in the industry calendar. The Southern launch builds on this success, offering leaders across the region the opportunity to connect, learn and take away practical insights to apply in their own organisations.
