Interior Fit-Out & Refurb Taster Week

If you are interested to pursue a career in interior fit-out and refurbishment, our Taster Week is the perfect opportunity to gain an overview of the many exciting career opportunities available to you. You will gain an insight into how we find, win, plan and deliver high quality, award winning sustainable projects.


The Programme

Based in our head office in central London you will undertake an exciting structured programme, rotating through the various disciplines from sales & marketing, design & planning – right through to seeing how a project is delivered on site.

During the week you will receive one to one mentoring from an industry professional, have the chance to visit one of our prestigious projects, and engage in a variety of interactive workshops and activities to develop your employability skills and help give you a flavour or possible career pathways you might wish to pursue.

Management Focused Programmes

Our management focused programme offers you the chance to experience and understand the skills and tasks required to pursue a career in Management within the Interiors fit out and refurbishment market.


We offer placements in the following disciplines:

  • Construction Management
  • Design Management
  • Pre-construction: Estimating, Planning, Bid Management
  • Sales / Finding new work
  • Marketing & External Communications
  • Support Functions – Internal Communications, HR, Finance, Supply Chain or Administration
  • Sustainability & Community
  • Health and Safety
  • Systems & Quality Delivery

The following programmes are ideal for university students or graduates interested in careers in construction, however we also accept applications from students undertaking non construction related degrees and also returners to work or those considering a new career path.

The Programme

During your placements you will shadow an industry professional and will undertake a structured programme of activities to enrich you with the skills required to pursue your chosen career path.

You will benefit from the opportunity to be supported and guided by an industry professional working on one of our prestigious projects, and will take part in site visits and a variety of events to deepen your understanding of the construction industry.

By the end of your placement you will have a portfolio of work to include in your CV, giving you a defining edge when applying for traineeships or work within the industry.

Summer Placements

Our 2 – 10 week summer placements are aimed at school students, university students or graduates wanting to gain an insight into potential careers in construction and or gain practical work experience to support their studies.


The Programme

Depending on your interest and level of experience we will offer you the chance to undertake a two week ‘Interior Construction Taster week’ with the opportunity to then specialise through a management focused programme for the rest of your placement.

Enhancing Lives Programme

Our enhancing lives programme is an entry level programme for young people who are unemployed, not currently in education or training or facing any other barriers from entering a fulfilling and rewarding career.


The Programme

You will undertake a 2-6 week programme during which time you will gain one to one mentoring and will undertake a trade(s) and or Construction Management programme. If you do not have a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake CSCS training.

Throughout your placement you will undertake a number activities to improve your employability skills such as time keeping, attitude training, CV writing, interview techniques as well as undertaking activities to gain the profession skills to pursue a career in construction.

After spending two weeks shadowing a design manager, Gemma was inspired to consider a career in construction. Gemma applied for a position as a Management Trainee which she was awarded in September 2016. She is currently an integral part of Willmott Dixon Interiors working on a high profile project for parliamentary estates.


Eighteen year old Roland Hidaji secured a full time position working with supply chain partners Winters Electrical following the successful completion of a four week work experience placement working on the exciting aparthotel refurbishment in Earls Court for Starwood Capital.
