Management Trainee Programme

Our established, successful Management Trainee programme is one of the best in the industry.

Graham Shaw, Managing Director, Willmott Dixon Interiors

Management Trainee Overview

If you are talented and want to succeed, our trainee programme will give you that opportunity to grow and realise your potential in a flexible and supportive environment.

We have one of the most established and successful Management Trainee programmes in the industry as we have been nurturing, developing and fulfilling potential for over 35 year in this way. Some of our most talented Management Trainees now sit on the main board and many are now in Senior Managerial roles.

I started my career as a management trainee with Willmott Dixon at the age of 19. Since then I have worked my way up from an Assistant Project Surveyor to my current role as Managing Director

There are lots of routes into a Management Trainee Programme at Willmott Dixon Interiors

School leavers

Are you studying for A Levels and don’t want to go to university full time? Then a 4 year Management Trainee Programme is for you!

Graduates

Are you a graduate with a degree in a construction related subject? We can offer you a 2 year Management Trainee Programme

Other Routes

The length of your Management Trainee Programme will depend on your experience and qualifications and we welcome applications from:

  • Skilled Tradespeople
  • College leavers
  • Non construction related degree holders

You will get a structured programme that will expose you to all areas of our business to develop your understanding of the interiors business as a whole and not just your chosen discipline. The length of your programme will depend on your entry route, generally between 2 and 4 years.

Meet our trainees

KIERAN – TRAINEE BUILDING MANAGER
Kieran Legg

Give a brief summary of your role and daily tasks

Before construction starts, we set about preparing the site and meeting other professionals such as such as architects, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers. Ensuring the project is planned and delivered safely. Works on site are managed daily with plenty of challenges surfacing. I manage and check health and safety onsite and I work closely with our sub-contractors striving to produce a project completed to high quality.

What has been the ‘best thing’ so far that has happened here at Interiors?

My personal highlight of working at Willmott Dixon Interiors is being part of the project team on the £22million Design Museum relocation project. The Design Museum is a world leading museum devoted to contemporary design and is one of the biggest projects Willmott Dixon Interiors has undertaken.

What has surprised you the most about working for Willmott Dixon Interiors?

The commitment and encouragement that Willmott Dixon Interiors offer its people! The company and its people are always there to support each other, whether it be personal goals or career aspirations.

TOM – TRAINEE BUILDING MANAGER
Tom Arkley

Why did you apply for a Management Trainee position at Willmott Dixon Interiors?

I have been interested and involved in construction from a young age and have worked on various small-scale building projects. Following this I was keen to expand my knowledge and work for a large company completing more varied projects on a larger scale.

I was attracted to the Willmott Dixon  Management Trainee Programme as it is renowned for its success and receives high praise. I felt that the fast-pace and diverse nature of Interiors was the right challenge for me. The scheme also allows me to progress to a managerial level whilst completing my BSc Hons Construction Management degree on a part-time day release basis.

Give a brief summary of your role and daily tasks.

My role as a Trainee Building Manager allows me to learn about a variety of building techniques along with the health and safety, quality management and sustainable factors that are all important when running a successful site.

My daily tasks include managing specific project areas, sub-contractors, quality checks, creating and monitoring short term programmes and trouble-shooting whilst ensuring the site is a safe place to work.
