WE ARE PROUD OF OUR TEAMS FOR ACHIEVING EXCELLENT RESULTS IN THEIR 2020 CCS SCORES.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is a non-profit organisation improving the image of construction by working with the industry to consistently raise standards. As Partners of the scheme, we actively help develop future initiatives, driving continual improvement and bringing our supply chain on the journey.
All our sites are assessed by a scheme monitor for their performance against the five sections of the Code of Considerate Practice; caring about our appearance, respecting the community, protecting the environment, securing everyone’s safety and valuing our workforce.
Rising to the challenge
In 2020 we had 22 CCS assessments. The pandemic saw the usual format disrupted as monitors were unable to visit our sites in person, but we were pleased to see how quickly teams adapted to the new virtual way of co-operating with CCS.

Despite the challenges, we achieved an average score of 41.8 out of 50, considerably higher than the industry average of 37.9. We achieved average results of 8 or more out of a possible 9 for all areas of the Code of Practice. We are proud to have received average scores of ‘excellent’ for respecting the Community and protecting the Environment, two key focus areas for our business.
Last year Willmott Dixon launched our new 10-year Sustainable Development strategy, Now or Never, highlighting changes we are making to the way we work in order to leave a positive social, environmental and economic legacy. We also pride ourselves in caring for the safety and wellbeing of our people as well as the appearance of our sites, which is clearly reflected in the CCS results.

Winners of CCS National Site Award
Our top performing project was Quarry House in Leeds with a score of 45. At Quarry House, we delivered a Cat B fit-out and refurbishment covering 64,583 square feet of commercial space. The project’s outstanding performance led to them being awarded a CCS National Site Award recognising the team’s contribution to the local community, protection of the environment and health and safety measures.

Another top scoring project was London South Bank University with a score of 43. We are currently delivering a £38.7million refurbishment of the university’s London Road building across 191,000 sq ft. The project achieved exceptional scores of 9 in three of the five sections of their assessment. Our project team have engaged with the local community in many ways, such as hosting careers events, site tours and a large contribution to a local food bank providing free meals for children during half term.
