WDI recognised for Considerate Construction

Willmott Dixon Interiors received Gold, Silver and Bronze at the National Site Awards in a ceremony held on Monday 3rd April at Plaisterers’ Hall, London.

These awards recognise sites registered with CCS that have raised the bar for considerate construction. The three sites that won an award are listed below.

Gold awarded for Sussex University

Overall, standards were raised on site which demonstrated a real commitment to improve the image of the construction industry. The following was also noticed:

  • Exceptional compliance in all categories
  • Excellent use of CCS e-learning resources to go beyond expectations of the CCS scheme
  • Excellent working practices and procedures which were at the leading edge of industry best practice
  • Great efforts to encourage young people to join the industry
  • Outstanding awareness of sustainability promoted to the workforce as well as the wider general public, reinforcing the commitment to attain carbon neutral status
  • Commitment to safety was strong on site and thoroughly implemented
  • Great evidence of a caring environment where the workforce were made to feel involved and valued

Silver awarded for Design Museum 

Overall, standard of appearance remained at a high level and signage was well-presented, however the following was also observed:

  • Good relations and engagement with the local community which included regular site visits
  • Excellence in environmental efforts including supporting local park initiatives
  • Successful health and safety initiatives
  • Exceptional welfare provisions for site workforce

Bronze awarded for London Metropolitan University 

Generally, high level appearance on site and good effort to keep the local community informed. The site was also recognised for the efforts listed below:

  • Excellent efforts with the local community and positive promotion
  • Employment training programme developed to help a member of the local community with unemployment challenges
  • Promotion of environmental issues on site and to the local community
  • Well established safety procedures through excellent site safety records
