Creating thriving places and communities
Our towns and cities are evolving in a post-pandemic world, with outdoor spaces taking on a more important role than ever. The nature of hybrid working means people are spending their working time between home and the office – we’re working with local authorities to help towns and cities offer that extra something to bring people together.
The transport hubs we’ve created have drawn people and businesses into centres and created impactful first impressions for those new to the area. We’re creating more public realm, to transform brownfield and disused sites into outside spaces to bring communities together and enable local businesses to benefit from their thoroughfares.
Greening urban environments with trees and bringing nature back can also help overcome some of the greatest challenges facing the world’s growing populations, and give those living in town and city centres calming spaces that promote health and wellbeing.
Case Studies
Our team in the Midlands were appointed by Nottingham City Council to prepare the Broadmarsh Centre site in the city centre for future development by knocking down the North West section of the existing half-demolished structure. We also returned to the site to deliver some of this future development.
Nottingham City Council took control of Broadmarsh following the collapse into administration of intu, which was behind the original redevelopment plans. The council was able to secure £8 million from D2N2, the Local Enterprise Partnership, via the Getting Building Fund, along with a further £4 million from the Transforming Cities Fund.
Stockport’s gateway to the region with seamless transport connectivity, new homes and public realm.
Stockport Interchange is one of the biggest single projects outside of London and a key part of Stockport’s £1 billion town centre regeneration.
Our regeneration experts have delivered an interchange development that is a new gateway to the town and region, creating seamless connectivity for people using the West Coast Mainline and local transport services.
