Leeds Mencap is a charity who work to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with a learning disability and their families and carers. They have a specialised centre for children from the ages of 0 – 18, which provides them with the help and support they need to build their confidence and interact socially. In a recent survey, 94% of Leeds Mencap families said that they have felt more isolated during Covid-19. The impact of the pandemic on families who have children and young people with learning disabilities has put both parents and their children under incredible strain, with many experiencing increased anxiety and worsening mental and emotional health.

As part of our social investment strategy, the Willmott Dixon Interiors team have previously donated office furniture to the local Leeds Mencap branch so they can upgrade their offices in Leeds, have also worked with our suppliers to deliver over 400 Easter eggs to provide to local children in the area, and have recently again worked with our supply chain partners to donate dozens of toys for all ages.

We are proud to be able to help local charities and community initiatives as part of our ongoing project work in Yorkshire and will be hosting a Summer Fayre in aid of Leeds Mencap with the assistance of 4 Yorks, the Yorkshire Regiment in August and have also provided our services to the The Horsforth Shed project where Willmott Dixon Interiors will be helping to repurpose the redundant Scout Hut in Horsforth to serve the local area as a community workshop. We will also be taking part in the York and Birmingham Dragon Boat Races on 12th and 25th September 2021 to continue our sporting achievements and raise further funds for local charities.
