Willmott Dixon Interiors Participates in UK-GBC’s Wellbeing Lab

Wilmott Dixon Interiors will be participating in The UK Green Building Council’s Wellbeing Lab, a 6 month programme of knowledge exchange and hands-on collaborative learning to support the health, wellbeing and productivity of office workers.

Full list of participants include:

• Willmott Dixon Interiors
• BuroHappold
• Standard Life Investments
• Forbo Flooring UK
• Workspace
• Greengage Environmental
• Carbon Credentials
• Max Fordham
• David Morley Architects
• The Crown Estate
• JLL
• Arup

Each organisation will bring a “live” project to the lab, in the form of an office building in their portfolio, or one that they occupy. UK-GBC will support each of the organisations as they measure and monitor key indicators in that office – including indoor environmental data; the experience of office users; and the economic impact on employers.

Lab participants will receive expert guidance on the data gathering and interrogation process to identify areas for improvement. The group will meet regularly for the duration of the programme to discuss their findings, progress and pitfalls in implementing key health and wellbeing interventions in their buildings.

The 6 month lab will culminate with a showcase event, to provide the group with the opportunity to share their experiences, which will then be made available for the wider industry to learn from. This will help address one of the most common demands from the industry for more “real life” evidence on the link between building design and workplace productivity.

John Alker, Campaign and Policy Director at UK-GBC, said:

“I am really pleased that we have been able to bring together such a diverse range of participants from across the property sector to take part in this exciting project. It demonstrates that interest in this topic shows no sign of diminishing.

“It’s well accepted that office design impacts our health, wellbeing and productivity, but translating the theory into practical action is not necessarily easy. The Wellbeing Lab will not only help participants take this agenda forward, but will provide useful and applicable knowledge for us to share with others.”

Willmott Dixon Interiors are pleased to be involved in the Wellbeing labs and participate in knowledge sharing as well as learn from others across the industry. This will help improve refurbishment specifications and allow better management of practices.
